Suzanne Kosmas Signing up for Slashing Defense Funding, Hiking Taxes?
Kosmas Financier Promises to Cut Defense Spending and Raise Taxes
Washington- Despite all of the hollow rhetoric that Suzanne Kosmas has been spewing out to the voters in Florida's 24th Congressional District, it looks like she’s already aligning herself with her Democrat leaders who are ready to enact tax hikes and cuts in Defense spending in Washington. Democrat Finance Committee Chairman Barney Frank, a contributor to Kosmas' campaign, admitted this week that Democrats in Congress, with Kosmas' help, would be poised to enact their liberal agenda:
“Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said Democrats will push for a stimulus package after the November election, and called for a package reducing defense spending by 25 percent while saying Congress will ‘eventually’ raise taxes.
Frank told the editorial board of the SouthCoast Standard-Times that he wanted to reduce defense spending by a quarter, meaning the United States would have to withdraw from Iraq sooner.”
“‘We’ll have to raise taxes ultimately,’ Frank said. ‘Not now, but eventually.’ Frank told the Standard-Times that if Democrats cannot secure the votes they need in November, they will try again in January, when they will likely have stronger majorities in the House and Senate.” (The Hill, 10/24/08)
And in a move to try to shore up support for this radical agenda, Barney Frank has made a down payment on Kosmas' vote by contributing to her campaign from his own fundraising account.
“It’s no longer enough for Suzanne Kosmas to ‘claim’ that she won’t raise taxes when all evidence points to the fact that the centerpiece of her party’s agenda is to enact devastating tax increases and cut critical Defense funding,” said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. “By taking campaign cash from Barney Frank, Kosmas is showing voters that her loyalties really lie with the liberal Washington establishment, not Florida's hardworking families struggling with the current economic crisis.”
What Democrat Barney’s Franks admission amounts to is that by sending Suzanne Kosmas to Congress, Democrats will have a stronger majority to enact destructive tax hikes on middle-class families and weaken our national defense.
