Alex Sink: “The Florida Legislature should be prepared to do their job.”
Tallahassee–The Republican Party of Florida today commented on Democrat Gubernatorial Candidate Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink’s distributing lack of understanding of the legislative process demonstrated in her remarks following Charlie Crist’s politically motivated call for a photo-op special session.
“Rather than following the Charlie Crist, Alex Sink and Barack Obama playbook and playing politics with taxpayer dollars, the Florida Legislature is discussing a special session solely focused on bringing relief and recovery efforts to the people of North Florida,” said RPOF Executive Director Ronnie Whitaker. “Members of the Legislature are currently touring the impacted areas and meeting with local leaders to thoughtfully gather information and construct a legislative package that will actually help Florida families, business owners and communities, not just provide convenient sound bites and photo opportunities.”
“Perhaps Alex Sink could give recommendations and helpful ideas instead of making statements that are void of facts and understanding and heavy on partisan finger pointing,” continued Whitaker. “If Alex Sink wants to call on others to do their jobs, she should start with Charlie Crist who called this session to push a constitutional amendment, instead of real economic recovery.”
“Alex Sink’s comments reveal that she has not read the Governor’s call for the special session in which he only outlined plans to push for a constitutional ban on offshore oil drilling, nor did she read Senate President Atwater’s detailed memo explaining how the legislative select committee needs time to gather information and access the short-term and long-term effects of the spill,” concluded Whitaker. “As usual, Alex Sink focuses on pointless press conference punch lines, like staples and paperclips, rather than thoughtful plans that can bring about real solutions.”
From Sunshine State News:
State CFO Alex Sink, the likely Democratic candidate for governor, does not like the idea being supported by Senate President Jeff Atwater, R-North Palm Beach, and House Speaker Larry Cretul, R-Ocala, to hold a second special session later in the summer to tackle economic problems resulting from the oil spill.
