Chairman Lenny Curry on the 2012 State of the State Address
“Governor Rick Scott’s first year in office was certainly a successful one. Under the Governor’s leadership the state budget was balanced, property taxes were reduced by $210 million, Floridians started getting back to work and commitments to education were maintained. Through these accomplishments, Governor Scott has made clear that he will uphold his promise to make Florida the best state not only to move, grow or start a business, but also to live, work and visit.
“Today the Governor laid out his vision for the 2012 Legislative Session and the year ahead. Governor Scott remains committed to balancing the state budget without raising taxes or fees and creating a business friendly environment that will bring jobs to the state. This year, with the recommendation to increase education spending by $1 billion, Governor Scott has reaffirmed his commitment to our children by ensuring that they receive a quality education. He has also made it a priority to keep the cost of living low for all Floridians by reforming the auto insurance system to reduce fraud and abuse.
“I commend Governor Scott on a successful start to turning Florida’s economy around and getting Floridians back to work. I trust that if we follow the direction of Governor Scott, Florida will continue to recover in the years ahead.”
