RPOF Partners with American Red Cross to Provide Relief to Isaac Victims

Rick ScottThis morning, the Republican Party of Florida contacted the American Red Cross and has offered support of relief operations in preparation for Tropical Storm Isaac.

The American Red Cross relies on the power of volunteers and the generosity of financial donors.  The Red Cross says that there are a variety of ways that people may help at this time.

First and foremost, the mobilization of resources in preparation for any disaster requires financial support.  Isaac is expected to cause serious flooding throughout the region, and the Red Cross needs your help. You can call, click or text and donate by visiting www.redcross.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or texting the word REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation.  All donations will support American Red Cross Disaster Relief.

There is another way that you can help.  I mentioned that the Red Cross relies on volunteers to deliver vital Red Cross services.  Over 500 Red Cross disaster volunteers have been deployed to areas that are going to be impacted by Isaac. I would encourage those individuals who are interested in being an American Red Cross disaster-trained volunteer, to contact their local Red Cross chapter when they return to their home states.

And, as the Red Cross is prepared, we ask that Floridians do the same.  By downloading the official American Red Cross Hurricane App on your iPhone and Android phone, you can access local and real time information for hurricane threats, as well as a variety of other important storm-related information.

I am proud to be a part of this effort and hope that you will join me in supporting the American Red Cross.

Governor Rick Scott
